Automotive Articles - Lab Scope Diagnostics
Autonerdz.com is a worldwide LSD cult. That’s Lab Scope Diagnostics.
We offer the best lab scope equipment and training for the professional automotive diagnostician as well as the automotive enthusiast. Our nationally acclaimed Nerd Series training program is now available on CD. This is about 30 hours of virtual classroom you can experience over and over again. This program has been featured on CBS TV.
Having a sound diagnostic strategy that is flexible enough to allow you to make the best use of your experience and knowledge is key to efficient diagnostics. We all have different experience and different styles. When we are focused on following a written diagnostic procedure, we are conforming to a style not our own and limiting our perspective.Creative Lab Scope Technique is a method that can free you from the book procedures and enable you to make the best use of your experience and instincts.
What would be the most desired tool for the repair shop? You would be hard pressed to choose one but you know which ones are good tools. The ones that make you money are good tools.
Training is no different. What the most desired training would be would have a different answer for each shop. It depends on what the needs are. Here also, good training makes you money.
Here at Autonerdz, we specialize in automotive lab scope technique and strategy. This is only one of the essential areas that are needed. In order to keep your hard won customers in house when they come in with a diagnostic issue every shop needs at least one lab scope and a tech that can use it effectively. It’s no good gathering dust. So, tools and training go together.
When techs in The Nerd Series come back for subsequent modules, they express how the techniques work and made them money. Shop owners get added value from techs that have been in the program as well (but occasionally gripe about having to pay them more. But more importantly, not having to send that customer down the road enhances customer retention. Once they go down the road to get that problem solved, you risk losing all that gravy maintenance and basic repair work that goes with them.
So, what is the most desired training? Again, it depends on the shop and the team. Some shops may specialize in areas that would rarely need my type of training. Many general repair shops may have weaknesses in other areas that need priority attention. However, sooner or later they all have to invest in the lab scope package comprised of the scope and the competent tech that goes with it if they want to handle diagnostics effectively.
That’s what we do. We make automotive lab scope nerds.
